A car accident that occurred on El Camino Avenue in Sacramento last week took one person's life and may have permanently changed the lives of several others. The accident occurred when a young woman crashed her car into an SUV driving in front of her.
When the SUV was hit by the car, it went off the road and slammed into a tree. Four men were riding in the SUV when the accident occurred. Two of the men were ejected from the vehicle; one of these men died at the site of the accident. Two other passengers suffered injuries and were taken to hospitals for treatment, however the SUV's driver did not sustain injuries that required treatment.
The woman driving the car now faces several charges for her role in this accident. She was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and as a result faces a charge for "vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated." In addition, her 1-year-old and 2-year-old children were riding in car seats in the backseat of her car when the accident occurred. Because of this, she also faces charges of child endangerment.
This accident demonstrates how quickly a person's life can change. The future of the young woman remains to be seen and her children were placed with Child Protective Services after the accident. Although, as this young woman allegedly caused the accident, she may have been able to prevent the crash from occurring.
On the other hand, the men in the SUV appear to have been following the rules of traffic when their vehicle was hit from behind. Because this young woman's vehicle collided with the SUV, one man lost his life and two others are injured.
When family and friends lose a loved one in this type of car accident, they may consider looking into filing a wrongful death claim. Unexpected costs after a loved one's death can be overwhelming and financial compensation may help cover some of these expenses.
